Born amidst the whispering fields of Indiana corn under a full moon and the watchful gaze of a murder of crows, Richard Charlton entered the world with a scream.
But early challenges with disabilities demanded numerous surgeries, temporarily silencing his voice. It was in this silence that Richard’s imagination blossomed, finding expression through drawings inspired by comic books, medical textbooks, records, action figures, and television.
By the age of 14, following a successful airway reconstruction, freedom came roaring in, accompanied by a taped copy of Milo Goes to College by the Descendents passed to him during math class. This marked the beginning of a lifelong romance with punk culture, politics, and art.
Richard’s journey led him to the University of Kansas, where he dual-majored in Graphic Design and Illustration. Here, he sharpened his artistic instincts and gave structure to the creative connections that his ADHD naturally forged—bridging theory with expression.
Around 15 years ago, a spontaneous trip brought him to Los Angeles, where the eclectic vibe of the city became his playground and permanent home. Since then, Richard has collaborated with iconic brands like Crayola, Hallmark, Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy, Green Dot, GoBank and more.
Richard lives with his daughter, Genevieve, and their anxious cat, Ramona. His art remains a dynamic dialogue—infused with the same rebellious spirit, curiosity, and heart that has defined his journey from Midwestern cornfields to California's creative epicenter.
